VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.5 and other Released

VMware has released there vRealize Operations Manager 6.5, vRealize Log Insight 4.3, vRealize Business for Cloud 7.2.1 and NSX 6.3.1.

vRealize Operations Manager 6.5

Whats new in the version:

  • Additional monitoring capabilities
    • Adds ability to increase memory and increase the scope of monitoring within the same environment.
    • Enables you to monitor larger environments with the same footprint through platform optimization.
    • XL size node enables you to monitor more objects and it processes more metrics.
  • Automatic upgrade of Endpoint Operations Agents:
    • The new Endpoint Operations Agent upgrade bundle allows you to automatically upgrade the agent through the vRealize Operations Manager user interface.
  • Enhanced troubleshooting capabilities:
    • Quickly correlates logs and metrics in context for any monitored object using Log Insight within vRealize Operations Manager.
    • Creates custom metric groups that enables you to focus on most relevant metrics
  • Improved collaboration:
    • Simplifies export and import of custom groups and eases dashboard sharing between different vRealize Operations Manager installations.
    • Understands Private Cloud costs and Public Cloud spends by accessing vRealize Business for Cloud from within vRealize Operations Manager.

General improvements

  • Removes scale limitations from Predictive DRS (pDRS).
    Predictive DRS enables vRealize Operations to provide long-term forecast metrics to augment the short-term placement criteria of the vSphere Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS).
  • Default values for the following global settings have changed:
    • For Deleted Objects, it has changed from 360 hours to 168 hours
    • For Action History, it has changed from from 90 days to 30 days
    • For Symptoms/Alerts, it has changed from 90 days to 45 days
    These default settings are effective only for new vRealize Operations 6.5 installations.
  • Allows you to disable coloring in scoreboard widget.
  • The update process has been optimized. 
    The update process might be up to 40% faster, depending on the size of the environment and the number of objects being monitored.

vRealize Log Insight 4.3

Whats new in the version:

    • Host table entries now expire after they are idle for three months (after the last ingested event)

  • User Interface Features
    • New alert history for individual alerts
    • New percent labels on pie charts
    • New trendline overlay on line charts
    • Enhanced dashboard list selection
  • Agent Features
    • New FIPS-140-2 compliance
    • New silent auto-update of deployed agents
    • Enhanced timestamp parser that supports single-digit representation of days and months
    • Now supports Windows Server 2016

vRealize Business for Cloud 7.2.1

Whats new in the version:

  • Tighter integration with vRealize Operations Manager. You can access vRealize Business for Cloud 7.2.1 through the vRealize Operations Manager. vRealize Business for Cloud appears as a tab named as Business Management in the vRealize Operations Manager 6.5 user interface.
  • Compatible with latest versions of VMware solutions. vRealize Business for Cloud 7.2.1 is compatible with the latest versions of vRealize Operations Manager, vRealize Automation, VMware Identity Manager and vCenter Server. To see the list of all supported versions, see the VMware Product Interoperability Matrix.
  • Upgraded JRE to 1.8 update 121. JRE has been upgraded from 1.8.0_102 to 1.8.0_121 in this release.
  • Reduction in the vRealize Business for Cloud OVA file size. The size of the OVA file that you use for vRealize Business for Cloud deployment is reduced from 3.5 GB to 1.8 GB.
  • Renamed Cloud Business Analysis Report. The Cloud Business Analysis report that was introduced in vRealize Business for Cloud 7.2 has been renamed to Hybrid Cloud Assessment. A new summary page is added to the Hybrid Cloud Assessment report, which provides:
  • the current monthly cost and average VM cost of your private cloud
  • the total cost of ownership and the allocated cost that represents the percentage of private cloud utilization
  • the estimated monthly cost of public cloud (AWS and Azure)
  • the reclaimable opportunities with cost savings on private cloud
  • Additional access to vRealize Suite Standard license key. If you log in to vRealize Business for Cloud by using the vRealize Suite Standard license key, you can see additional details such as: 
    • The reclaimable virtual machines information on the Overview page.
    • The datacenter optimization information under the Planning section.
    • The cost savings opportunity information in the Hybrid Cloud Assessment report.
